if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

Ice cube dyeing

Not been here for a while but I just had to post this.
I found a "recipe" for dyeing wool using ice cubes and the microwave.

ok to start you need wool, not acrylic (mine came from the charity shop)
soak in water with a good splosh of white vinegar for at least 30 mins.
Squeeze out excess water and put wool in a microwaveable bowl
Add previously frozen ice cubes coloured with food colouring, I had 3 of each colour and tucked 1 of each under some of the wool.
Then microwave on high power for - well I don't really know but it needs to get really hot for the dye to fix.
Leave to cool then rinse out any excess dye

I am really pleased with the result - what to knit with it though?
My son is after a giant hexipuff cushion, or a mad jumper for one of the girls?

Easy i-cord necklace

Ok this is my first pattern to be put on this blog, I hope it works and I hope someone somewhere likes it :o)
oh and it only takes about an hour to knit

The pattern is really simple, I used ribbon yarn from my stash
12mm circular needle
(although it would have been easier and quicker if I owned a pair of 12mm dpn)

Gauge and yarn amounts are not important to this knit

using waste yarn and provisional crochet cast on cast on 3 sts
knit as an i-cord for 70" (or your desired length)
graft the 2 ends together and weave in ends of yarn
SIMPLE :o)

Wow!

I am so privileged my hubby has just renovated a spinning wheel for me, thought I'd post the pic of it. I wish we'd photoed it before he started. it was in really bad condition, I don't think it had ever been used as I think when it was first put together the person doing it split the hub and didn't know what to do.
the pyrography was designed by him and took about 25 hours to complete.... thats why this post is WOW!

fleece prep day at the farm

I went yesterday to Mia's to learn more about fleece preparation for spinning. It was a great day, not only cos I only had my 6 month old with me ;o)
I managed to use her drum carder for a large piece of my fleece and hand carders too.
She showed us how to use combs but I don't think my jacobs flece is long enough to bother. she did some alpaca on it though and it was beautiful when she'd finished.

lovely day

We are just back from a lovely day at the Blakesley show where the gloves and hat knitting kits were being sold.

There was so much to do and see the kids had a great time, the stall had lots of people looking round - and some sales :o)
Hopefully tired children now, definatley tired parents

Just in time!

Well here they are, my first real knittng designs, I finished them just in time for the Blakesley show where the mum from school I designed them for is selling kits to make them using her own alpaca yarn. I am really pleased with them :o)
